East Side Access is the MTA’s largest capital project: a tunnel connecting Long Island with Manhattan, a full upgrade of the Harold Interlocking (the busiest passenger railroad interlocking in North America), and a beautiful new rail concourse beneath Grand Central Terminal. The new work will grant Long Island rail passengers direct access to the east side of Manhattan, generating huge economic gains on both sides of the East River.
